Writer's Block: Top Five Video Games

Ok - this is my third try at posting this - hopefully it'll work!

#5 Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time (PS2) - Probably the first adventure game I played all the way through twice. Visually stunning, extremely playable, challenging but not impossible (PoP2 and 3 I gave up on because they were just too damn hard), and just plain fun to play. I ( Read more... )

In the Fall of '91 I headed to San Diego, to SDSU, and to my job as a cashier at Aztec Amusement Center.

Shut. The. Hell. Up.

I used to go there at least once a week from 1991 to 1997. I had no idea you worked there!

Wait, huh, what?

Er, I totally worked there that entire time... By the time I left in like late '97/early '98 I was managing the place.

So you don't remember a clean shaven quiet but prone to anger, cranky kid with longish blond hair parted in the middle working there?

I have some pics for Aztec from the first "Midnight Madness" promotion I put on... I'll try and scan them and post them.

And dude, my Uncle was the manager when I started - did you not ever see him and drool? He was fucking hot - lol.

It was a long time and many b*ng hits ago, so my exact memory of meeting you is a little fuzzier, but oh yeah, I'm sure we met when you provided me quarters at some point, because your machines had mini-meltdowns from time to time. I went through extended periods between classes trying to learn the fatality moves on Mortal Kombat, spent hours trying to blow up the Death Star, and spent a huge chunk of change playing the X-Men game, among others. I would go in with $10 and a mission to play every game I could.

I so want to see a picture (of your uncle too! I'm not sure I remember him. I was kind of hung up on a guy I was dating at the time...he had pretty much all of my attention back then!)

Well then you might just remember how we had all the moves for the MK games on the walls or above the game? And that we even passed out a mini-FAQ list etc for 'em?

I wrote those... hehehe...

That's so weird... but then again, I was massively in the closet when I worked there.

The Wii guitar is better than the PS2 guitar and I think GH3 is way more forgiving that 1 and 2. It takes about an hour or two to get accustomed to the new graphics etc but after that you forget how the PS2 looked/played.

I love the Wii version and being wireless rocks.
