anywho, about Stanford being spelled Stanfurd. There is a huge CAL vs. Stanfurd rivalry out here on the west coast. I go to uc berkeley and we've just always spelled Stanford Stanfurd. Some possible explanations: it makes them look stupid. it's pronounced furd, not Ford...or, then it looks like FU is in the school name. They spell CAL like this: Kal. So yea, that's the best explanation I can give you.
