"Like this," Colin says, putting his arms around Dennis, correcting Dennis's careful grip on the camera so large in his tiny hands. "Here, I'll do the focus. You look through the viewfinder."

"Here?" asks Dennis, lifting the camera to his face. He looks through it. "Now what?"

"What do you want to take a photo of?"

"Dad!" says Dennis instantly. Colin grins. They both look over to where Bob was obliviously gardening.

"Okay," says Colin. "See that circle in the viewfinder? Do the top and bottom halves match?"

"They're squiffy!" Dennis says.

"Skew-whiff," Colin corrects, adjusting the focus. "Tell me which way is better. This... or this..."

"That one!" says Dennis. "But they're still a bit squi-- skew-whiff!"

"Tell me when," says Colin, very slowly twisting the focus ring.

"There!" says Dennis. "Now?" He tries to push the button.

"No, look--" Colin moves Dennis's hands again. "Hold it here, yeah? So it's steady. Otherwise the camera will move. Now, press the button. Gently! ...not that gently, Dennis, it is supposed to--"

Click!

"Yay!" says Dennis. "I wanna see it!"

"You have to wait for the film to developed," Colin says.

"Oh," says Dennis, and, "can I take some more?"

Colin smiles. "Sure, Den. As many as you like."
