"Fok!" yelled Dennis cheerfully. "Fok fok!"
Alice sighed heavily. "I said they were too young to take to a restaurant."
"Nonsense," said Bob. "He's fine, aren't you, Dennis?"
"Fok," agreed Dennis, happily waving from his highchair, more food on him than on the tray.
There was a muffled burst of laughter from the table of students next to them.
"Drink, Daddy," Colin commanded.
"Say please," Bob said.
"Please!" Colin repeated obediently.
"Peas!" Dennis chimed in. "Fok n peas!"
The students cracked up again. Colin twisted around in his seat to see what they were laughing about, but Alice tugged him back forward.
"Sit properly," she said, handing him his drink, making sure he was holding the kid sized mug tight before she let go.
"Ship!" said Dennis. "Fok ship!"
"Sit, not ship," Bob corrected him.
"Sit!" said Dennis and laughed, waving his spoon some more. "Fok!"
"It's fork," said Colin in a long-suffering tone. "Say fork, Dennis."
"Fok!"
"Fork!"
"Fok!"
"Fork fork fork!"
"Fok! Fok! Fok!"
"It's a spoon, actually," Bob pointed out.
Loud laughter came from the next table again and Colin and Dennis both laughed. Alice sighed again and buried her face in her hands -- mostly so they couldn't see she was smiling as well.
