So I've been working at Minstry of Health doing Data-entry all week. Its all part of a six month contract and I hope once its up I'll have a much better chance of getting something better. Its a start and better than the dole so its all good. Also, if I can act funny when I tell people I do 'data entry' they'll assume I have a much cooler job that ( Read more... )

Jeans. Jeans and rugby shirts. That's what you can expect.

I can handle that. I just wasn't sure what type of T shirt would be inoffensive. People get pissed off from all kinds of things that aren't a big deal and are happy twith things that proberly ought to be, like Che Guevera shirts.

Also, Whats the deal with micro pauses!! They got to be the most anoying things ever!!.

Hah. Micropauses I can handle. It's the 'breaks' I hate - they mean I can't access anything on the screen unless I end them (thereby reducing the benefit of having them). If a call comes I have to stop so I can access info I need/enter info etc or if I'm talking already and the call finishes, I have to either wait and screw up my stats or end the break and screw up my wrists.

My secondment was GREAT and my wrists were just fine. Stupid call centre.

As for shirts, well one guy I work with wears overtly Christian ones. A woman wears rugby shirts. Another woman wears ugg boots and track pants. So go figure!

I was told no t-shirts with slogans or statements. And I've never been asked for a dollar, in fact during my rather haphazard induction I was told that casual Fridays are a reward to staff. I don't know if anyone even collects money on mufti days, but there's always the swear jar.

Mufti will depend on where you work. Be a little conservative on your first one (no political slogans on shirts) and look at what everyone else wears. Everywhere I have worked in Wely, tidy black clothes and some boots have been fine on a Friday.
