I think the person who wrote the Firefly thing might have had a point if it was stated without quite so much frothing at the mouth. The "feminist" tag gets applied to Buffy and Firefly almost by default, but some pretty appalling women-in-refrigerators caliber things happen in both. Someone who's seen Angel more recently than me can handle the sex/violence/ickyness in the Cordelia/Connor relationship or Fred's fate at the hands of a guy who worships a goddess. But I'll never know if she mentioned any of that, because I got too pissed off at her being too pissed off over Zoe taking orders from a superior officer.

That woman is an insane racist. There was so much bullshit in her personal comments that it was impossible to take anything she actually said about the show seriously. Because of my sexual orientation every sexual experience I ever have will be rape? If I'm reading her correctly the only valid love is between two women-- and that's one of the most disgusting pieces of hate I've ever encountered.

Though she did make me really want to watch the show again and finally watch Buffy.

If I'm reading her correctly, white hetero males like me should all just disappear. Perhaps to a cave in Idaho. Mass suicide would also be perfectly acceptable.

Actually, my interpretation wasn't that we should disappear (and do you think she'll stop at just WHITE males? She'd blow a gasket if she ever experienced true Machismo in a Spanish-speaking country. Seriously.) but that we, as men, should become completely and totally subservient to women. She won't be happy until we're taking orders from "them". Because, at the end of the day, THERE CAN NOT BE EQUALITY.

Not something I even remotely agree with.

I laughed, reading that chick's anti-firefly post.

As the product of 5 generations of mixed relationships, and as someone raised predominantly under feminine influences, and as the grandson of a woman who honestly believed that a man's place was in the work force because he had no other worth, and that a woman was the true ruler of the household, though she will "let" her man think he is, I found what she had to say utterly ludicrous. I won't even go into the unfounded, undocumented accusations she made.

She herself is a racist and sexist, so fully twisted around on her point of view that she doesn't realize she's talking out of her ass.

I would be entertained, if I didn't pitty her so much. I can't possibly imagine she can ever find a happy moment in her life with all that hate and rage bubbling inside her.
