Oh, and does anyone want to go with me to Jared's Tonys party on Sunday? It's in Queens.

Bring a dish that is reminiscent of the worst thing you've seen on Broadway. Looks like Bananas Foster would be difficult and dangerous (especially outside of one's own home), so I think I'll be making a Banana Trifle. (for Tarzan, of course).

For the record, you don't have to set Bananas Foster aflame.
When you cook the sauce , just use high heat and cook quickly ( before the butter burns.)
It gives you the same caramelization (and removal of the alcohol) without the potential eyebrow singeing side-effects.
You could always make the sauce to layer in your trifle...
That would be yummy.

If I was going to a party like this, I would most likely bring a pitcher of mint julep, entitled Julia's Julep.

She's Southern, too, it works (though you wouldn't know it from her hideous accent).
