AB had something that sounds very similar a few years ago. We thought it was a repetitive stress injury. Turns out, AB had just done something to eff it up and when he "stretched it out" he was continuously damaging it. He wore the wrist brace to immobilize it for a solid week (even to bed) and it healed.
Tough to say with the wrist; there are too many structures inside that it could be to even make a wild guess online. If it's an RSI, then you might be helping with the brace, even though it still hurts. Try wrapping with an ace bandage with a moderate amount of pressure at night, instead of wearing the brace to bed, to see if it helps. If you've damaged nerves or chipped bone it might require a bit more research on your physician's part i.e. x-rays, nerve conduction studies, etc., but it's a bit early to consider that.
With it feeling better after some gentle movement and massage, I'm thinking some type of ligament inflammation. Anti-inflammatories (aspirin, naproxen, ibuprofen, and some stronger prescription drugs) should provide some relief no matter what the injury, just make sure you eat when you take them or you can get ulcers. Keep us u-t-d when you see the doctor.
