Someone requested paler recolors of Kiki's PhasMaxian skintones and OH HEY I already did that but never released it as it was kind of a sloppy job on my part. I also just installed Mansions & Gardens and I don't have a custom camera, lighting, or any hacks (pose or otherwise) so enjoy these incredibly mediocre and very minimally edited preview ( Read more... )

Basically each default skintone is assigned a number, i.e. Maxis default skins have 0.10 for light skin, 0.30 for tan, 0.60 for olive and 0.90 for dark. For the geneticized skintones above, they each have a numerical value of their own, set to go in-between the regular default numbers. For instance say you have a geneticized skintone that has a value of 0.20, that means if you have a sim with Light skin (0.10) and a sim with Tan skin (0.30) have a baby, there's a chance the baby will be born with the geneticized skintone, or either of its parent's skintones. There's a really excellent tutorial/guide to Sims 2 genetics here which explains everything in painstaking detail.

Also, because these are townified, they will show up randomly on your townies as they're generated.

Happy to do it, seeing as I'll also probably be using them quite a bit myself. XD

Thank you for these! I love the very dark skintone. It's making me consider trying these skins out again.

As much as I love it when people download my stuff, if you haven't already you should check out Genensims for skintones. They're straight up Maxis recolors and their dark skintone is what I used as the tonal guide for mine because I liked it so much.

Oh, thanks! A straight-up recolour would be better for me, for sure. I do like the PhasMaxian skintones, but the eye detail and shading just doesn't look right to me on my males and sims with weird eye shapes (and I do use a lot of aliens). I keep flip-flopping on nose shading too, I like it, on one hand, but another side of me just wants the least amount of facial detail possible.

After checking the site, your tone still looks better, but it might be in the lovely photography, since Genensims just has bodyshop images. I'll have to try it out in-game.

Thanks for the recommendation!

(Sorry for all the editing. Spelling iz hard.)

I can understand. I think the Genensims skintone is really nice, I had it in my game before making the above skintone and the pictures on the site don't really do it justice. I'm glad I could help!
