Cohen/Cohan Kahuna

We were watching Lost and noticed someone in the credits and there's an Archie K. Ahuna. We wondered if it was someone's idea of a joke for a last name, sincea  Kahuna is a priest, and usually people starting anything on the islands get a Kahuna to bless the effort. Otherwise apparently it is not a good idea to neglect this step in Hawaii.

Root words. (Stef) freddie2431 May 31 2010, 02:34:10 UTC
Wonder if the root word was originally Hebrew ?

Some historians (?) and/or genealogists (?) have said that native Israelis have the same particular skeletal features as the group scientifically classified as Asian....and so do many island peoples, and also Native Americans.

So that makes me wonder if those words all came from a common root. (I'm a word geek.)

Could be, I guess. Aramaic is what a lot of people in the middle east spoke even in ancient biblical times, and the language probably bled into a lot of places.

The word for cherry in ancient Sumerian was "karsu", and both cherry and the German kirsche come from it.

And Polynesians are said to be a blend of Asian, Negro and Caucasian, so they could have all kinds of possibilities for where their language came from originally.
