We're at the start of a nasty winter storm here. It's snowing more or less horizontally due to the wind, which is also howling around corners and occasionally rattling the windowframes. I have actually turned the heat on, which I try to avoid because it's not cheap, and I'm currently wearing five layers and am still rather cold. It's supposed to

We are getting the same storm down here, and I am going to have to walk home in it in a minute. Brrr....

Wow, I just looked at weather.gov and there's a blizzard warning all the way down the eastern half of the state. I'd assumed it was just here in the northern mountains. I hope your walk wasn't too cold!

This has been a cold, snowy winter already, which I guess was predicted because of El Nino, but I was hoping the prediction was all a mistake somehow.

The walk home wasn't too bad. A fair bit of snow, but not as cold as it might have been, and at least we didn't have your winds. The walk back in to work this morning on the other hand... That was a lot of snow to trudge through. No alternative, though. There was absolutely no way I was going to get the car out of the driveway.
