The final installment! I'm going to talk about one more pairing, then show you some other characters, all of them series regulars, who probaby won't be central to anything I might write but may get a mention. Then there's more picspam, and finally, I recommend the episodes to watch for an abbreviated Colditz experience.

Eee, I've loved these *g* And whilst many of them were happy memories, I had *not* noticed that look between George and Dick and the breadbasket before - poor George, no wonder he thought he was in with a chance *hugs him* And the way he looks at Dick... (thank you for following sad!George with happy!George that made me feel better)
It's such a shame Tim has so little character - I feel Heffer could have done more if he'd been given anything at all. But as you point out (and this is of course partly Winch) Palmer has more *life* to him than Tim generally does, certainly more than Peter Muir.
And also that cigarette!gasm is a genius of capping and has made me laugh for five minutes. Thank you *g*

Dick winks at him, too, to show he's got the skewers. George, at this point in his self-understanding, probably interprets his own delight as "I have a friend! A wonderful special friend! Who's brave and clever and very good-looking! We're having such tremendous adventures!" with a small nagging background chorus of "But he seems to like Pat so much better . . ." I want to hug George and tell him to hang on, Harry will be there in a few years.
It's like the writers just forgot Tim was there half the time. It occurred to me last night that although he's presented as super-patriotic and hearty and etc., he hardly ever even gets an escape attempt. He's just wallpaper, occasionally trotted out to be The Voice Of Convention, and even more rarely to make a joke.

'Wallpaper' is perfect to describe Tim. He has those few characteristics at the start of being more difficult - causing trouble for Preston - and if they'd stuck with that in the long term it could have been interesting. But nothing. I wish he'd been developed in S2 instead of the gratuitous random extra people +/- gratuitous Americans... And yes, he doesn't escape and he seems very placid, in total contrast to his lines in 'Welcome to Colditz' about fighting on etc etc
