I love the idea of Peter and Jim having a common ground. Smiley sent the right man for the job. I'd love a sequel to this, but your ending is quite moving and good. The dialogue is perfect. You capture their voices so well!

*nods* I think that's implied in Jim's response that he should think about it again in twenty years. But Peter himself hasn't quite realized, yet, the damage he's doing to himself. I'm thinking about and desultorily working on a sequel where, among other things, Peter does start to realize it.
