Awwww. I like that. I felt so sorry for Richard on the sled, esp when the others broke out that feast.

I also worried about him. That seemed such a physically hard thing to do. The other one that really bothered me was the South American trip when they all went up a volcano, so high that they were a;; feeling very ill and finding breathing difficult, and I yelled at the screen that they shouldn't be taking chances like that. OK, I know a lot of it's set up and scripted, but that bit certainly wasn't. You actually got to see the crew being worried.

I watched the Bolivian special this afternoon, actually. I was so glad when they turned back; I'd been practically yelling at the screen.

I felt so sorry for Richard on the sled

*nods* For some reason it's always Richard I worry for, even though he's probably stronger than either James or Jeremy. He's just so little and cute and he's got big eyes like a cartoon character.

He is like that! I know there's a lot of crew around that we don't see, but all the same. They put themselves through a lot of discomfort on those two trips.

Have you seen the Vietnam one? They ride motor scooters, and despite Jeremy complaining and whining all the way, it's stunningly beautiful. I fancy a holiday there now.

Discomfort and some real danger, I think. That scene in the Bolivia show where Jeremy has to pass another car on the narrowest part of the mountain road, and he's literally on the crumbling edge of a precipice--I could hardly watch that. (Like James May, I'm afraid of heights and mountain roads freak me out.) And in the north pole episode, even though they had medical staff and a rescue plane available, there was still a lot of risk of frostbite or other injury.

The Vietnam episode really was gorgeous. Even though I wanted to hit Jeremy for complaining and Richard for refusing to eat any Vietnamese food (and Jeremy, again, for apparently ordering whatever food he thought would most upset Richard).

As a dyed-in-the-wool Top Gear, and halotolerant fan, I can say this rings true to me, for what that's worth.

Jeremy Clarkson being sarcastic in his sleep is spot on :-)

Thank you! ♥ This makes me grin even more than usual (and I think I may win the award anyway for over-use of the '*g*' emoticon - but that's actually how I actually am! *g*)

I'm so very very pleased we have achieved cross-fandom pollination here with DAAS and TG, because clearly both are wonderful!

You've got them very well here. Clarkson shattering cosy myths in his sleep, James being worried and hesitant, Richard fighty and defensive. The UST is wistful and wonderful and this:
"I'm all right." He ought to record it, then he could just press a button instead of saying it over and over.

James looks at him, a long calm look from under a wedge of matted hair. "Okay, I reckon maybe you are. So you can stop proving it."

Is just right and rings so true *g*

I really hope this isn't your last foray into this fandom because you've really got them (and I love this fandom and your fic, so natch). And thank you! *g*

Yay, I'm so glad you liked it! Especially that you felt I got the personalities right.

I'm so very very pleased we have achieved cross-fandom pollination here with DAAS and TG, because clearly both are wonderful!

Are you doing Yuletide this year? I'm requesting two flavors of DAAS (RPF and Daas Kapital), and if Top Gear is eligible I'll definitely offer to write it.

Also, some lunatic part of my brain is now insisting that DAAS and TG would cross over interestingly. (Nothing to do with Yuletide, just in general.) Paul McDermott and Jeremy Clarkson trying to out-sarcasm each other! The endless terrible short jokes Jeremy would make about Paul and Richard Hammond!

I most certainly doing Yuletide! *dance of yuletide*

I'm still not sure exactly what I'll be asking for and offering but, hmmm, we'll see *g*

Oh god, TG and DAAS *covers ears in anticipation of the much shouting and/or guitars* Would be amusing, certainly, I think Jeremy would love them for being loud and unPC and unapologetic and simultaneously find the stage!gay hard to cope with. (Though Will Young (who was the first winner of Pop Idol and has had a pretty decent career since) was the star in a reasonably priced car a few seasons back and when Jeremy interviewed him it became completely obvious that Will was flirting like hell and Jeremy absolutely went with it, bless him. That's why he's listening to Will Young's song 'grace' in Bolivia, the producers adopted it as part of TG 'canon' that Jeremy fancies him)

Richard and James didn't let this past, obviously:

*g*

That. Was. So. Cute. The best thing was that Will and Jeremy genuinely seemed to hit it off--like Richard says in the second clip, you could see Jeremy warm up to the guy, and how pleased Jeremy was to discover they had all these odd interets in common.

I don't always find Jeremy Clarkson very likable, but in that interview I can really see what it is about him that appeals.
