This gets my vote for most homoerotic scene in TOS (so far, anyway).
A little context: an evil alien has lured some children into being its followers and they're trying to take over the Enterprise by using mind control to unleash people's fears.

They might as well just have kissed, you know? There was no point in them not kissing in this scene, because the not!kissing didn't in any way hide the erotic and emotional passion.
Subtext is not the word.
