Hellblazer #250

Dec 17, 2008 18:04

Hellblazer 250 went on sale today, so I ventured over to the local comics/science fiction bookshop and picked it up.

This special anniversary issue contains five stories, all Christmas- or New Year-themed, by Dave Gibbons, Jamie Delano, Brian Azzarello, Peter Milligan, and China Miéville.

Brief, non-spoilery reviews )

fandom: hellblazer (comics)

All right! I have to admit Ennis and Delano are my favourites, but Milligan might prove to do a better job than the last few writers...

Milligan's story was rather Delano-ish in tone, I thought. And I read an interview with him where he talked about wanting to refocus more on John Constantine as a character, and how he thinks John's really a decent man at heart. All of that feels to me like a return to the comic's roots, which has been sorely needed for some years now.

It's been very hard for me to follow Diggle's storylines because of that, really.
