If this isn't fiction, it honestly sounds like depression, and worth seeking treatment. The lack of energy and initiative and the flattening-out of life are classic symptoms-- not all depression takes the form of obvious sadness.

I sure hope you're able to find your way through.

It's fiction loosely inspired by thoughts I've been having lately about something going on in my life. Definitely not depression.

Seconding halfshellvenus's comment above -- after I read her comment, I was like, oh I thought this was a piece deliberately written *about* depression. So yes, if this is nonfiction and if you've never been treated for depression, it's worth checking out!

Definitely well written! It does feel good to have that something in life that keeps us interested in moving forward, learning more. Lots of people need new things to explore to feel excited about, and it's so great when we can find something that clicks for us. I hope you find it!

Nope, it's fiction. It's loosely based on something going on in my life at the moment, but I embellished. A lot ;)
