All English children seem to be forced to wear sandals, all summer, until they're about six, so I've given him my old Jesus-sandals. I was thinking, why did Severus turn him into a pig? Unless they were playing with farmyard animals already, and the game just got too exciting...
Thanks so much! I'm glad you thought it matches well with her fantastic, atmospheric story.
This is a fantastic picture. I love that Severus turned his friend into a toy pig, and his facial expression clearly shows how shocked he is by what happened.
Michael is a very happy pig, isn't he? In a minute he'll toddle over to those plants and have a nibble, then try for a nice back-scratch on the garden fence.
I'm flattered to get a comment from such a talented artist like yourself (your 'New Life' painting recently absolutely blew me away.) So thanks very much.
I was trying to go for early sixties colours, to match the time of Snape's childhood, and a bit washed out, like a memory. Thanks, I'm glad you approve - a bit less full-on than my usual colour blast, isn't it?
"I was trying to go for early sixties colours, to match the time of Snape's childhood, and a bit washed out, like a memory" I wondered about that, since it reminded me of the style of a lot of the school textbooks & readers of that time. That definitely came across
Ah, the finished product is gorgeous. The little farm animals remind me so much of being a kid. I think that is a great detail to have worked in, and I am struck by all the details. The little stands that the cow and the chickens are standing on, those little bits of fence. It reminds me of the farm sets I used to play with.
The smile on little piglet Michael's face and the look of shock on Severus' come through perfectly. Michael obviously doesn't mind being a pig... though Severus seems a little taken aback.
It's gorgeous! I am so flattered to even have it associated with my fic!
Everyone (in RL) who has seen the pic as I have been working on it has been having huge childhood flashbacks with those little plastic animals...
Piglet Michael is very happy, isn't he? Perhaps he hasn't realised he's a pig yet? He's also surprisingly hairy - did you imagine Michael as a shockingly hirsute child? *g* Well, perhaps fluffy, if I am being kind...
Thanks for writing so atmospherically and sticking ideas into my head. Poor wee Severus - his parents are about to have a roof-raising argument about this harmless little piglet, which he will carry with him for decades.

Severus already has the beak and the heavy brows, I see. And the sandals are too cute!
Lovely work. :c)
