Bicycle!

Skadi's old bike got vandalized. We suspect who it did, but we have no proof of it. Since the kid needed a bike to get to school or just for fun and sports, we went to a big local bike shop this afternoon. Actually I was just looking for a used bike since money's tight this month, but ended up with a brand new one nontheless

Hooray for a new bike, and good on Skadi for doing well in school! (and happy birthday, as well. :) ) I know exactly how you feel, with stretching yourself a bit too far, but sometimes, that stretch is totally worth it, like in this situation. :)

So sorry to hear that her father is still being useless, though. :/ One would hope that he'd grow up and act like a father to her, one of these days...but I'm thinking that's a wishful dream, huh?

It's totally worth the stretch. We were biking all the last days and with that great weather it's just a wonderful way to spend time outside. I've got a few days off for the German Unification Day and I'm considering to make a bigger tour by bike. It's not set in stone yet, depends on where I can get a hotelroom. Maybe it's just hiking, but that's okay too.

Her father is such a looser. Sorry to say that, but the terrible truth. He's absorbed in becoming a member of the Northrhine-Westfalian parliamant, that he's forgetting about Skadi. If his other kids would not live with him, he'd forget them too. Somthing what keeps Skadi's chin up, shared problems are halved problems...

Yay bike! So glad to here that her last few weeks at school turned around for her.

It's going better at school since Skadi knows what's "wrong" with her. And she realizes that she needs to stand for herself, and not going after what others (aka the schoolmates) say.
She won't be an overachiever, but she'll make her way.
