Oh hell, yes. There is an ingredient in cocoa itself that is very irritating and it is fairly acidic as well. On the list of Things Felicity Can't Have Because They Are Bad For Her Stomach, chocolate, coffee and anything with caffeine or citrus. The tummy lining, she, how you say, does not like these things. >.<

On the upside, you can counter the effects of things like that, but having them right after you've had something with a LOT of fiber in it. Like, 10g or more.

I am mostly affected by chocolate and citrus. lovely. Doesn't stop me from wanting the chocolate, tho - and when I give in, I certainly pay for it later.

ooh good to know about the fiber! SO, my super high fiber toast, THEN chocolate. I will try that the next time I am wanting.

One of the things I've learned with gastritis is that fiber absorbs excess stomach acid. When my stomach was killing me, I'd make this dish of really high fiber pasta (12g a serving, yoinks) with spinach and garlic, and it was amazing how much it helped.
