Dumb cat!

Last night, while I was in the basement preparing things for the cat, my beloved partner let her in from the garage when she had asked to go after dinner. She came most readily, leaping and rushing to come in, which is why it wasn't until AFTER she'd past him at the door that he realised she was carrying. I heard him exclaim, dashed up the stairs ( Read more... )

More likely, she wanted to see how I would do it. That might explain why she was checking out the mouse trapped in the bowl while I was looking for something to slip under it to transport the same out.

I'm sure you've already left, but ... I'm thinking of you and yours today. Good luck and all that.

I believe that one of the reasons she didn't catch it while we had it running last night was because I was involved in the chase. I have noticed before that if I am there, she will back away and leave me to "handle" it on my own. Deferring to the top cat or leaving the mess to the beta-cat? I don't know. That's why I tried to hold back last night, but I was the only one NOT utterly terrified by the little thing. So when it ran behind or under stuff, I was the only one moving things out of the way.

I could have sworn it was the 16th - the day before my mother goes in for her mastectomy.

Bahaha! Of course, I wouldn't be laughing if the mouse was in my house. I've had the experience of finding a DEAD mouse in my bed (kind of like one of my cats was saying, here, have a snack before bed!) but no live ones yet. Though I am used to handling dead mice, since my snakes eat them.

At least it wasn't a rabbit. Someone at my work told me she once woke up on her couch to find a mostly live rabbit hopping around in the cushions, while her cat looked down proudly from above. :P

I'm glad I don't have that problem. But I have seen pieces of cockroach carcasses around the bottom of the stairs.

But you live in Florida. My dad always said Florida was a lot of humbug - humidity and bugs.

I don't remember that from my short stay there, but then again, I was only 4. I remember fog, though. Thick, white, pea-soup fog. The things that stick in memory!

Yes, your father has it right!

There are times in the year, mostly during the winter months (lol, winter months, as if) where it gets foggy.
