if a tree falls in the forest moments.

if your kid is in the crib screaming for an hour does it still count as a nap?

i think she may just stay overtired.  at this point there is nothing much i can do short of, what, hypnosis?  tranquilizers?

i suck at this sleep stuff but seriously you can't actually make a person sleep without using some sort of ( Read more... )

*hug* I hope she sleeps better soon! I don't have a good trick, since Owen kind of likes to sleep - I wish I had one for you! And yes, I am extremely grateful that he does like to sleep.
All my love and best thoughts to you and your little porkbun.

Clara's sleep (or lack thereof) patterns actually sound a lot like Maya's. Maya was really hard to put down for a nap AND really hard to put down at night, and took FOREVER to sleep through the night. (She probably still doesn't, but now that she's almost 5 she can at least get back to sleep on her own without bugging me.) Nothing I tried helped for the longest time ( ... )

clara actually doesn't nap during the day usually, so getting rid of a nap won't help... :( she sometimes takes a cat nap on the way to work. but i'm thinking that actually getting her to nap may be key in this whole thing.

i can see how maya and clara could have similar sleep issues, they both are incredibly active active active kids and i think part of the problem is clara just can't turn off the world long enough to get to sleep.

i figure one day she'll go to college and i won't care if she sleeps or not. i just hope our next kid is mellow like josh.

Some scattered thoughts... Can she nap if you hang out with her? Not playing, but just sitting with her or holding her?

Is there any chance that she's hungry / thirsty / hot / cold? (Dumb questions, I know, but we overlooked those kinds of things sometimes. Turned out that Matthew's an incredibly hot sleeper.)

Do you think she may just hate the crib? Matthew did. He slept much better when we moved him to a futon on the floor. (Though he liked the one at daycare; go figure.)

I got into the habit of just nursing him down, both for nap and at night. It doesn't suck, actually. It kept him calm and happy, and made him sleepy, and kept us connected. I still do it, when I'm around and available to do so. And he never actually needed nursing down at daycare, which he started at 10 months -- they could rock him to sleep -- so the fear of "ooh, if you nurse your kid to sleep, he'll DEPEND ON YOU FOREVER to get to sleep!" is really a load of BS. :-)

Err. I just now read your previous posts about sleep issues. I was ignorant when I wrote that comment; sorry. :-)
