** LYING LIARS WHO LIE ALERT**

I'm pretty annoyed and outraged and just...pushed beyond boundaries of understanding right now.

I've only been involved with fanfic for a few years, but one of the most talented writers and a super nice and supportive people - and probably the only fandom legend I've ever known (and I mean that in a loving and respectful complimentary way) - has ( Read more... )

wtf, assholes, plagiarism, rl, idiocy, writing

sucks about the plagiarism, but thanks for turning me onto the story. I love her stories, but (like you) she's got so many that I've barely touched the tip of the iceberg.

so sad, I'm getting a fic rec out of this, sorry!

I'm just glad someone noticed though - I didn't even recognize the fandom it was stolen for. at least janissa got the screencaps before it was taken down. I took a quick look at the girls lj, saw mostly what appeared to be short pwps. then I decided I didn't want to give her the traffic (besides, no sam or dean = boring fic anyway!) and now I'm heading back over to emland. sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'm sure by now anything incriminating is flocked or pulled down entirely anyway.

Yup. You know me, I don't usually do slash. In fact, Em's about the only slash reader I've ever READ, and that's from first go, back in CSI. (She's the only one who ever EVER sold me on Gil/Nick.) Anyway, with Em, it's always been the WRITING that transcended the genre, so...I remember reading this story and just being struck by the characterization and emotion.

BALLS.

Anyway...Em's story is amazing.

Totally. I don't get it. We all hit dry spots as writers, we all struggle...but doesn't knowing that - that we all go through the hard times - shouldn't that give you some idea that it's just...YOU DON'T PLAGIARIZE!

*bangs head against nonsense wall*

Oh man. How sad. I kinda feel bad for the girl because how sad is it when someone stoops so low. Not that she doesn't deserve to get what's coming, but still.

Thanks for the heads up on behalf of Janissa.

I feel bad for her in the sense that she must be terribly desperate or terribly sad - or both - to have come to action like this. True, she should accept any consequences to her actions, but there's this part of me that has little emotion about that...she replied to comments praising 'her' work, and commented back about the difficulty in 'writing' it.

Once you've crossed that expanse, I can't care too much about your feelings, you know?

It's comnpletely outrageous. I really hope everything gets worked out for janissa11 because she's an amazing writer and doesn't deserve such disrespect. This kind of stuff makes me so angry. I don't know how the plagiarizer thought she'd get away with it, but I'm glad she got caught.

I agree that janissa is an amazing writer, but also NO ONE deserves this kind of treatment. Writing is HARD WORK, and this girl clearly KNOWS THAT. Yet...

My hope is that she comes clean - that she accepts responsibility and apologizes for what she's done. TO Em or anyone else, and to the readers to whom she grossly misrepresented herself and 'her' writing.

You're right. No one deserves to have their work stolen or to be lied to by an author who claims someone else's work as his or her own. I'd never heard of stop_plagiarism before today, so it's good to know that there is a community to help combat this problem. But it's ridiculous what this girl's doing now that she's been found out. Not apologizing and trying to hide the proof of her plagiarism? Unbelievable.

You know, it looks like she's purging, but when I click on any of the three links for the parts to the plagiarized story I don't get a "post does not exist" msg, but it still says friends-locked. So she hasn't deleted. Not sure what she's doing.

That's so freaking...WRONG. And SNEAKY.

So, she's just making it LOOK like she's purging? I saw eight_horizon was still friended...can she go check for you? I'm just...it's getting a little pathological, isn't it?

Ugh, Em. Just...ugh.

It's weird. I mean, she isn't GOING to apologize, that much is clear -- I think she's trying to cover her ass, but she isn't going to admit to anything. Innie found her account on insanejournal, and she has a journalfen acct, too -- all same user name. I suspect she's been a busy bee cleaning those up, too.

Yeah. I went and checked the links in the doc I sent you and you're right - they come up locked, not deleted.

I get that she's young, you know? (If her DOB on her profile is correct) and that maybe she's new to fandom/s and all, but there's a level of common decency that's missing here. There's just absolutely no respect in what she's done and how she's reacted to being 'caught'.

It makes me SO SAD.
