Awwwwww! This is gorgeous, very poignant. Love the imagery and the repeated motifs, I can't wait for more! Painful, though. Sad to see them reject each other that way--I understand why Angel is ready quit, but at the same time, Spike is part of the time and now he's being abandoned. So is Illyria. Wah! They need each other, but it seems like they're too tired to make that connection.

Love the Initiative thing and Spike not telling them about the soul. It's a nice follow-up of s7. ^^

Thank you! And exactly. Spike is still posturing, it’s sad. I felt something like that watching Angel season 5 - like Spike was hanging on to his old self and not really letting himself feel how much he had changed.
