Never been laid off, having instead always quit jobs to move elsewhere for various reasons. But the unemplolymemt, options at a new job if found, and the rest really suck. Now more than ever. So :hugs:

That said, one of my LJ friends lives in ND and has talked about the job opportunities there in the past. She's a hard working woman who's likely to give you an honesty account of the jobs and situation there. Would you likes to PM her and try to allow you two to talk? Doubt she'd mind, she lobes talking about her state.

Thanks for the hugs.

Any help, advice, is appreciated, so, yes. You might want to ask her first, then if she chooses, she can PM me directly. Keeps you out of the middle if she doesn't want to chat.

Yeah I was going to PM her with your user name and info and ask if she'd help, then let the two of you talk on your own.

As for cat, would you know of anyone willing to take it? A house situation would likely be better for cat. Mine claims it's the end of the world if he's left without humans for more than 12 hours (then moches from the sitter).

I think my one option with Bailey would be to return her to her original mom until housing situation could be settled. I seriously doubt I could give her up. If it came to that, I'd rather stay in Omaha and work for McDonalds.

LOL! Bailey acts like that if I've been gone for a long time. Very dramatic, barely croaked out, meow, like that is all she's been doing the entire time, but I know better. She's just been sleeping and finally notices her food bowl might be empty.

Well, I think living in your car in the winter isn't really and issue as by the time you go through the application process winter might be over...Not that makes the living in car part more attractive.

I'd personally say go for it...And even if your next job is not as good as your previous ones, if it just helps you not to leave up your savings it is already a plus. Not to mention for some reasons it is easier to find a job once you actually have one. :)

Everything I've been reading says they pretty much hire you sight unseen. If your app has some of what they need, they will train you for missing parts.

I have a hard time leaving my cat. I did that when I moved to Omaha. I left my cat with my dad and it took 3 years before I could go back for him. Then he died 1.5 years later. I have a lot of guilt about that.

Savings is already gone. I had to use it over the summer when my dad was so ill.

I'm giving it serious consideration. I'll see if Smurf's friend wants to chat. Maybe she can give me some pointers on where to look. There are lots of adverts, but I can't afford to move for an $8 - $10 an hour job. I can stay in Omaha for that.
