I left LJ for several years and moved to FB, but have recently left FB because of the very things you stated, the over-the-top cray that seems to have taken over. Everyone has a polarizing, my-way-or-the-highway opinion that leads to hurt feelings and massive friend hemorrhaging and it's harder and harder to rise above. I decided to come back to LJ where it's quieter, although admittedly less populated, concentrate more on my writing and just blog when the spirit moves me. Like the T-shirt says, "I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here." :)
