1590s B&W Gown Photos!

May 17, 2009 12:28

I finally took photos of me wearing the whole B&W gown (less the burnt ruff) taken at yesterday's Queen Bess & the Pyrates faire (before I went down from the heat). So, here they are. Photos taken by one of my guild mates, Matthew Seeser.

I only realized later as I was sitting in court, that the strap on my right shoulder needs to be adjusted a little, as my corset strap kept showing. Maybe I should figure out how to attach the bodice to the skirts, so that the bodice doesn't shift up that smidge on that side. Of course, when I wear a proper ruff that will be hidden.

I also realized that while this is a great looking court dress... it does not work as well as a courtiers dress in the dust and dirt of a dusty dirty faire site. Although having my hem up high, I wasn't dragging the skirts in that horrid dirt with high weeds, which is a great thing considering the skirt trains I saw trailing up dust winds. No hat meant my head was cooking in the heat (although having my hair up felt nice with the breeze), so I must make a tall hat with a decent brim, or something to protect my head/face in the heat of the day. Why yes, I did look rather out of place there compared to the rest of court. I hope to find links to photos of faire later this week, as the producer has someone who took photos of everyone.
