The smoking smell seems to have worsened. I feel my throat constricting. The air I am breathing in our house feels polluted, not at all fresh. What do I do about? Do I go asking around in the building about people's smoking habits? DO I complain to my landlord? I do have a lease, is not being able to breathe in the space grounds for breaking the

Try a HEPA air filter?

I don't think it would do any good to tell the landlord. Unless there's a rule against smoking, what can he do? On the other hand, if you needed to break the lease, I'm sure that's a good enough reason, ethically if not legally.
