Being in the present moment

Reading mousme's latest journal entry this morning, I got to thinking about the fact that I've been having trouble being truly present in my life lately. I find, for example, that I frequently look at the clock during yoga, wondering how long until the class will end. I enjoy yoga! I think you said this in your last paragraph: I've always said that I can't meditate, because I can't stop my thoughts. Every "expert" I've ever talked to, however, says that this is not an issue, that many or most people can't stop their thoughts. I think I've experienced some states that can be called meditative--I just get stuck on the word.

As for being in the present, maybe looking at the clock can become a way of reminding yourself to be in the present?
