I heard from Gorgeous Editor this morning and she said that she is almost finished reading the revision of THE HEALING SPELL (Scholastic, June 2010). She called my rewrite "splendid" and said that she thinks it's ready to go to copy editing. Gulp. Hard not to panic when I want to look at it again!

Thanks, sweetie! It's exciting and it's all sort of this strange RELIEF after so many years of unending work and thinking I was all washed up. ;-D

that is the weird thing about being an artist (and I know many people do not see authors as artists, but I disagree) it takes a lot of confidence in your work and your vision and knowing that someone out there will connect to it, to you, through you message. You have found your voice and people are listening, it is amazing :0) I can't wait until I get a chance to read your next book!

I've been seeing your comments on some of my friends' pages, and just friended you. Your novels all sound so great! I look forward to reading and learning more. The Healing Spell is such a fabulous title!

Thank you so much for your very kind comments. Wow, I'm amazed you think The Healing Spell is a fab title - that is SO good to hear! I've always worried that it's boring. Even discussed it with my new editor and she likes it so we're keeping it - unless marketing suddenly changes it!

I just went through the same thing... She emailed me back "I'm 75% through and loving it! Sending on to copy edits!"

I'm like, "You love it? Really? Copy edits? Are you sure? Because..because...the ending is AWFUL, NOOOOOO."

But...our editors know better than us I think. ^_^ Our books are gonna do great.

Yeah, it's always a little scary when it goes to copy edits because I don't get to keep tinkering with it. The REALLY scary thing is proofing first pages because, except for minor stuff, that is IT!

I showed your gorgeous cover to some teenage sisters I know and they loved it and said they are definitely buying your book! They have their own jobs and when they get paid they head to the bookstore and buy all the shiny, new books. Isn't that cool?!;-D

Yes, the finality of it all is a bit terrifying!

Thanks for showing off my cover, yay! I wish I knew some people in the target audience. Teens who read make me very happy. =D
