Okay, I've been pondering this post for a while, but have finally decided to go for it based on something mighty_sam posted concerning things he does/doesn't like in music ( Read more... )

I don't know if anyone would make fun of me for it, but I've had two songs on near constant repeat for weeks lately: Dream Academy's "Life in a Northern Town" and Paul Simon's "Under African Skies." They both have that background chorus with a sort of non-western feel to it and I love it. If anybody knows of other songs with that sort of chorusing, lemme know. :)

I probably *would* get laughed at for my Britney Spears. I also listen to an awful lot of Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morisette. Oh, and Kelly Clarkson.

I LOVE Avril Lavigne, so wouldn't laugh at all. I also own a bit of Britney and Alanis, so I can't say anything there either. :) I just started getting Kelly Clarkson through Amazon, and I love the stuff I have. I was annoyed that they didn't have Mis Understood (or whatever the official title is) as I was wanting a copy of that.

I'm going to have to look up "Under African Skies", as it doesn't sound familiar and I thought I was pretty familiar with Paul Simon's work...

I'd forgotten about that one! *laugh* It had actually come to mind... last week as one of the ones I needed to add to my list, but I forgot it before I had a chance to add it. Came to mind because I saw a reference to Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch on my Flist and have to add them too. :)

Good one!

Wow, that's one I haven't thought about in a looong time! I had a friend in HS who was adicted to that song. He would leave quotes to it written all over J's and my loft. :)
