*sigh* I had a lovely long weekend in Texas and I definitely didn't want to get up and come in to work this morning. Especially as it's still raining and that makes most drivers lose their freaking minds when they drive ( Read more... )

Don't read if you haven't watched! jennwarren November 22 2005, 16:51:11 UTC
We liked the new movie. Though my hubby didn't necessarily like the new portrayal of Dumbledore. I think it just shows the depth of his feelings for Harry, when he grabbed him. Kinda like how a parent, after their kid does something incredibly STUPID, shakes them and then hugs them.

D says that he thinks Dumbledore in the movie was TOO serious. And he liked the less serious, more abstracted, Dumbledore.

But I still think that he was abstracted but serious at all the right moments, too. Like the licorice thing.. with the bite. Heehee. However, most of the movie was serious. The TriWizard Tournament can kill students, and above all, Dumbledore loves his students.

We do like Moody though. :)

And did you get the feeling they edited out a few scenes in the Yule Ball? Hermione goes from just flouncing off to get some punch, to crying and telling Ron he ruined it all. I have a feeling there was a little fight somewhere in there. :)

I did think DD was a bit more intense in this movie, but I also think it fit. This was when things started getting really serious.

I thought Moody was very well done, and I'd had doubts when I'd seen pictures of the character! :)

The Yule Ball, yes, seemed a bit choppy there at the end. I also was just reading elsewhere that a "Charlie" had been cast, so I'm hoping for a deleted scene of him with the dragons.

I think the only thing that annoyed me, was the fact that they stuck both of the Patel twins in Gryffindor as well as Eloise Midgens (or however that's spelled). I would've loved to see more of the Quidditch World Cop and the tasks, but I was okay with what I did see. I think they did a good job of changing just enough of the details to cover for what they removed.

And I LOVED Neville and the twins in this movie!!!! :)

... My arm, my leg, anything!

I also loved Neville in the movie. D personally thinks that Neville will have a pivotal role in the last book.

I'm right there with Pavarti on that dance invite! In fact, I'm all for moving to Durmstrang ASAP! *laugh*

I think Neville's going to be pretty important too, which I love as I think the character of Neville is wonderful!
