It wasn't so much of a lesson PLAN as just the first lesson which was to read her blog and answer the question at the end.

I'm socially stunted so I never know where the line is between friendly and creepy. I'm working on it.

I am going to look into that writing conference. I'm also going to have to work on that whole "writing" thing. Haven't been doing a lot of that lately. I'm organizing so I'm not looking at this as a set back.

Thank you for everything.

You're not socially stunted; you're just not as confident as you could be. You might care too much about the opinions of others.

SIWC (siwc.ca) is generally recognized (by publishers, editors, authors, and attendees) as the best small writing conference in North America. Authors you have heard of come every year. Some of the most influential agents and publishers in the business come every year. Because they love it. It's fun, it's top quality, and it's small enough that you don't feel like a speck of dust in a galaxy. You can connect with people. You can attend small classes. And you can get real-time feedback from People Who Know, with editor/agent appointments and the blue pencil cafe.

Speaking from experience, it's also worth it to buy the meal option, and to stay at the conference hotel, especially if you have someone to share with.
