Okay, it CAN'T be worse than the remake of PROM NIGHT. I saw the remake of PROM NIGHT.
I'm seeing it tonight! Over the weekend I re-watched the original and POSTCARDS FROM THE EDGE, to remind myself what intelligent, hilarious, high-gloss movies about women can be like.

I was always on the fence about "The Women" remake because I love the movie and have seen it more times than I care to admit.
Then when I heard Diane English spouting off about how this was a kinder, gentler film than the original where the women were not backstabbing, but supportive, hmm, well, she was missing the point of the movie.
Can't wait to hear your review.
Postcards is dissed by some but (surprise, surprise) I love it. It's not as good as The Women but I love so many of the one-liners...but then again... I'm in it for the endolphin rush. :-)
I was wondering how this would turn out. I loved the original. Supposedly the remake is nothing like the original, which makes me wonder if using the title was nothing more than a cheap shot for publicity.
I love the original too and believe it or not, it was edited from the stage play because some of the sexual/pregnancy type lines for the censors.
I think Diane English really did want to make this movie but I think it's a shame she wanted to change the tone from bitchy expose on the competitiveness of women to the supportive, caring cocoon of female friendships type of film. I think part of the problem none of the stars wanted to portray the uglier side of human nature. Evidently Julia Roberts bailed after both shen and Meg Ryan wanted to play the main character. Nobody wanted the Joan Crawford/Rosalind Russell roles.
