Hehe, you should go and look at shinyopals's Moffat manifesto as some of us call it. Even those it was written two years before Moffat took over DW, she has some of the most clear cut explantions about why Moffat just doesn't work as a show - runner for Who. Even though I have no problem with Reinette, yeah everybody's OOC in that episode and if you pay attention a lot of the themes in that episode play out in S5 and beyond (including first meeting Reinette as a child - sound familar?).

Oooh I love her Moffat manifesto!! I really hope she updates it for s5 (but I know she said that she might not =() ... Reinette herself I don't mind (well ... except when she's calling Rose "child" etc in that one scene) -- it's Ten who I really dislike in that.

(including first meeting Reinette as a child - sound familar?).

Oh totally. Moffat seems to have this thing for putting female children with odd life stories in his scripts -- there's Nancy in TEC/TDD (we *think* she's underage), then Reinette, then CAL, then Amelia.

She has done a review of S5 on her journal (It should be under one of her S5 tags). She's kind of meh on it, like I am, but she's gone from hating River to loving her, so that's a Yay! in my book.

Huh, I always put Nancy at at least her early 20's (given how old Timmy is in those episodes), and just looked like she was a kid, but I get what you mean about the rest of the episodes.

Oh yeah Nancy is totally in her early 20s .... the Doctor's line at the end of TDD is: "Nancy, what age are you? Twenty? Twenty-one? Older than you look, yes?" ... which I think means that they thought the audience would assume that she's still a kid, when she's really older like you said! =)

I feel the same way about GITF. the episode itself is visually stunning, and Sophia Myles is brilliant and gorgeous but the context is ridiculously out of character, David talks in the Confidential or the commentary how in Tooth & Claw him and Rose are just falling back in love with each other so why would he completely forget about her a few episodes later, and just an episode after he almost says he loves her.

While I will admit that Moffat can dream up a good monster, I think that's about all he can do. He has the bad habit of repeating himself in his storylines, not just with meeting characters are children but there are other elments that repeat themselves too and his characters always turn out to be OOC, I found Rose in TEC/TDD ooc, Martha in Blink and Donna in SitL/FotD was also a bit out of character too.

GitF does not exist for me, ooh I could go on a rant about it all. But yeah, Icon Me :D

Same thoughts on both counts!! I love GG but I like to pretend s7 didn't happen (after Amy Sherman Palladino left). It was just ... too different to me. Some friends of mine didn't notice a difference, idk, ymmv lol.
