I found project_purity with a great concept, a well-developed setting, a perfect opportunity to play X!Seishirou, and one rule disallowing canon alternates that prevents me from actually applying him there.

I'm sure I've had greater moments of frustrated 'whyyyyyy' in the past, but I'm having a hell of time remembering what they are right this second.

And osnap, I thought they allowed alternates so long as they were canon. D:

Nope. D: The only exception to this is if that version gets dropped; if, say, someone apps Leon from Kingdom Hearts and then drops him, you are allowed to pick up Squall from Final Fantasy VIII. Other than that, both can't be in the game at once.

The character is part of a fairly sizable canon multiverse where roughly half of the original cast has an AU of themselves somewhere out there, and the idea that playing him prevents someone else from applying for his other self and prevents people from that cast from ever getting their cast-mate until I drop makes me uncomfortable.

I'm really enamored with the setting and plot and may say 'screw my discomfort' and take him there anyway, but for now I'm just pining.

I don't know, man. I've already heard of people having problems with that game and it hasn't even started yet. Keeping your distance may be wise.
