accordion asked me about the Buffy icons in this post, so I wrote up a quick tutorial. It's basically just a PS filter & sizing down caps without sharpening, but ehre we go! :)
Softening Caps
1. Duplicate base (this step allows you to really compare before/after by toggling the view/hide option)
2. Go to Filter > Noise > Reduce Noise and move around the sliders until the cap seems smooth enough for your liking.
If you've gone a little too far, you can lower the opacity of your edited layer or to erase out parts.
3. Merge layers, resize & crop
