2600, is a Hacking/Phreaking/Socialengineering/security quarterly publication. That decided many years ago. Similar minded people get better at finding and fixing security problems if they actually have a community, so they work as a loosely suggested framework for curious minded people to get around monthly and socialize. And trade hardware, and tell stories, and show off stuff and things.
Many people don't go because they dont consider themselves "hackers" but I think that they are selling themselves a very limited view of a by its own definition not bound by limits idea.
I hope dorkbot will be interesting, even if my part flubs the other talks should be good. Its a free public event, although i think signing up for the email-list is requested for attendance. you can unsubscrbe later if the group does nto interest you.
