That's one of the downsides of the pop industry. Once you hit 25 you're practically ancient. In the classical side of the music biz (e.g. opera, art songs, and musicals, stuff like that, where you have to train your voice), your voice really only starts maturing in your 20s, and most people don't even become successful, if not famous, until they're at least 30. People like Charlotte Church are exceptions. (and I don't even like her voice all that much anyway)
Have you seen the video clip of Gackt with Kago Ai from Morning Musume on some talk show where they simulated a "date"? The age difference conversation was much the entertaining.
