HOLY SH!T!

This is a wonderfully imaginative fic to re-write history and give us at least ONE of our dead BDH's back.

And the part about River knowing how Book would understand? Brilliant. 'Cause I think he WOULD, too.

Great job...off to read the next ones.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. :)

(Looking at your icon...the Jayne/River scene was initially a bit more shippy, but it was a little too 'out of nowhere' in the context of the rest of the story, so edited it. It was the first time I'd really thought about why they make sense as a couple, though, and I'm intrigued.)

This is so good. So plausible and so well done, and I just love it. I wish it could be canon! :)

I think I was trying to prove to myself, when I wrote it, that just because we're not in the Buffyverse doesn't mean death has to be permanent. :) Who knows what will happen?

I have to be honest: I have no interest in reading Wash-back-from-the-dead stories, mostly because a lot of them are far too sentimental for my taste. What I love about this story is not only River's voice, which is one of the strongest takes I've read, but because it's so matter-of-fact; doesn't wallow or linger in "woe is me" territory. I read this, and it all seemed entirely plausible in that wonderful AR way. Your writing is streamlined, but still unspeakably lovely in places, and I think I will thank you forever for this line alone: Kaylee and Simon, in Simon's narrow little bunk. Kaylee's on top. Simon looks, as always, just a little bit stunned. I laughed outloud because that's Simon in a nutshell.

Thanks for the read. Off to see if you've written more Firefly...

I can definitely understand that. I stopped reading fic after the advance screenings, though, as I wanted to remain unspoiled. I was kind of afraid that other people might have already tried this particular approach.

Thanks. :) I'm an unabashed (albeit not totally obsessed) Kaylee/Simon fan and it was hard not to get sidetracked with the two of them. Another story.
