Anyone remember this post I made w/ banners I randomly made for fun?

I'm browsing through French forums & fansites...and I find that a lynch. image I altered to be altered again and put up on the main page of a fansite. WTF?! They can't even argue that it's theirs...they prb don't even have the original image from RISKY blog, which is much bigger

I think translations are way harder. I'd be totally angry. Even when it comes to translations, everyone has their own writing style. DX

I can't believe they fuglified my work. ;_; I made sure the colors were all right and everything, and they just grayscale it w/ no regard whatsoever. Just callous. XO

you'd think "we all know" that unwritten rule, but a lot of people beg off saying they had no clue. it gets exasperating; I've had stuff stolen, too, but in the end I feel it's futile to get angry over people being just plain ignorant/not having common net-sense.

on the other hand, if they're just stealing things because they don't give a damn about courtesy, then you can't make them repent anyway, so it's a lose-lose situation. :(

P.S. their edits did make the banner way uglier.

I realize it's useless to request credit, but it's worth a shot...but I don't want credit for THAT banner. I want credit for my own. And they should at least credit the source of the image. If it weren't for RISKY, there'd be no picture to alter. *sigh*

That's so lame. I give you props for being so civil in the e-mail. I personally would have made an e-scene but I'm sure your way of going about it is going to be more effective than a tersely-worded hissyfit.

Yea, I know I don't respond well to swearing from strangers...and w/ the site being French and all, I really don't know what to expect. Like do they even know English very well?

It really depends. Usually jrock fans in France know a decent amount of English just because of the nature of the music and the sources they have to get their information from but there's no guarantee. I'm sure if it's a reputable fansite, they have some sort of system in place to handle copyright issues.
