i've been watching Top Chef Chicago as well. and according to the commercial that is always on during, seeing food or hearing cooking prep sounds makes one hungry. Must start Tivo-ing...
i've been watching it partly because i really like the show and partly because it is in Chicago. ahhh...the flashes of certain streets and buildings. i liked the wedding challenge last night. i'm rooting for the girl that made the bride's cake. i can't think of her name! and Spike and Dale are just ridiculous but i guess add to the bit of drama that the show needs.

on another note, i've been making cupcakes a lot recently and really enjoy just trying ingredients that i already have. i'm still using pre-packaged cake mixes for now until i get a proper mixer but only for the base. my latest were white cake, blackberry syrup and fresh blueberries frosted and topped with fresh blueberries and 1/2 with coconut as well. they were really good actually. i just have to remember to halve the damn recipe b/c there are tons of cupcakes.

Ooh, your cupcakes sound delicious! I almost always halve any dessert recipes because Kristina and I just can't eat that many sweets. Mind you, I love them, but even the power of my (now diminishing) Buddha Belly can't help me pig out on them too much, which is a good thing. One batch of blondies (made in a 9"x9") pan lasts us 1 to 2 weeks ( ... )
