After a few snake spelunkings, I discovered some shredded leeks, but the slow drain problems persists. I hear a gurgling noise when I initially run the water, so I need to research more. I've had it with snaking for now.

Wow, mystery clogged drains! You are getting me excited about owning our own place!

I kid, I kid. Good luck. If the sale goes through, maybe we can exchange labor and "expertise" :-)

Labor exchange sounds good to me.

I hate to say this, I do....

But when we had this problem with the house on Greendale it was because the pipes leading from the house to the city main under our backyard were degrading. Randy had to rip out our wood deck, dig and unearth about 15 feet of ancient clay pipe that was falling in on itself. he replaced it all with fiberglass or whatever that plastic white industrial pipe is. But once that was fixed, everything was fine for years afterwards.

I know that was a possibility, but am hoping it's something else. I have more investigation and research to do before turning it over to a professional.

We didn't hire a pro. Randy did it himself. We were told by the city that you only had to call a pro when it dealt with the actual connection to the city works. I don't remember if he went to the library and learned how to do it or if he just started digging and went trial and error.

I really enjoy taking on projects and learning how to fix stuff around the house. I'm just not sure I have a complete diagnosis of the problem yet, and may even need help with just that.

But if this requires any sort of digging, I will definitely defer to a pro. I really don't see myself 5' below the ground in this kind of weather. :)
