I would say it's just a case of a horrible photo caption by someone who is completely out-of-touch with the current music scene. Not that I'm one to judge, nobody's ever heard of what I listen to, but I do pay *some* attention to what's going on and remember what they were like from when I occasionally used to watch mtv in highschool.
