It seemed too good of an opportunity to turn down: it was a HUD foreclosure that was going for about $40-50K less than tax-assessed value, and if two units are rented out, the mortgage is paid. Ew, you're like the people who owned the house Paul and I lived in. Does the upstairs have a completely different climate?

Just kidding. I actually envy that real estate is cheap enough in Austin to buy homes as merely investment properties. Here, owning just one house is an accomplishment in itself.
