Im trying to break out of my normal color palette, plus the challenge was for oranges. next month the spindle challenge is My Home and well I live at Casa de Limon, so go some yellow bamboo to spin. I dont like this end of the spectrum. I really don't. I don't normally do pink either (ugh) but Im liking the way the pinks play with the other colors in the seawool Im spindling right now ( ... )

There are some good tutorials on making toes and making heels, which is the only "hard" part of socks. The rest of it is just knitting in the round. Don't start with a short row heel. That is a pain the butt to get right. The flap style heels though are fairly easy. You stop knitting in the round and start knitting a little square, then you just pick up stitches to knit the heel gusset. I like knitting socks from the toe up as that way I dont run out of yarn plus all the hard part of the toes and heels are over with before I start doing the pattern stitch on the cuff. My next pair of socks Im going to try doing the pattern stitch on the top of the sock too, but that is just a matter of knitting half your "tube" in basic knit and the other half in the pattern stitch. Stitch markers should help me with that.
