wow. I was wary about this when I read the prologue, but I am glad that I stuck with it, because I have been wanting to read an Academy fic that primarily focuses on Spock for some time now and this is some quality work you've done here. I love all of Spock's little insecurities, and how he both fits in and is apart from Starfleet social life. I look forward to the next installment!

Thank you! It is indeed more of a character study than my usual case of porn/angst/whatever. In the movie, Spock comes off as a walking set of contradictions. He's a badass, but he's also almost impossibly vulnerable. I've been thinking about it, and somehow this fic came to life. I'm glad if it works so far. ;)

You have such believable character development. Pike is practically exactly as I picture him, and the slightly insecure, slightly hesitant Spock you portray seems so likely for his character at such a young age! I really like this, keep it up!

Thank you very much! I'm glad they appear believable. And yes, Spock is not only a child of two worlds here, but also a very young 'child.' *grins*

Thank you! Spock's voice is a bitch, as I'm sure anyone who's ever tried writing him will agree. Sometimes I think I'm crazy, doing this all from Spock's POV, but he needs it. There's not nearly enough of it in reboot-verse. So, we learn by doing. At least, I hope it's getting better, because it sure as hell isn't getting easier.;)

Pike is a charmer. :P And Spock does the strangest things for kicks. :D
