secret_chord25 got there before me: White Christmas is a must see. Christmas isn't Christmas without it. But I'll rec you a few more silly/sweet/festive films (mostly from my childhood):
* Prancer - a film about a little girl who saves one of Santa's reindeer. This is like one of my mom's favourites. :P
* A Mom for Christmas - Little girl makes a wish that she could have a mother for Christmas and, hey presto!, a shopping-mall mannequin is made human and becomes her mom for Christmas. Why yes, the premise is stupid but it's a feel-good film anyways.
* Bright Eyes - an classic Shirley Temple film from 1934.
* The Polar Express - my dad happens love this one.
* The Preacher's Wife - with Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington.

Hope those help! I'm sorry you're feeling so bad.

for me it's Love Actually sappy, romantic and cathartic with a bonus of containing Alan Rickman

*a big, comforting hug*

well i have a strange taste so

1.-The Nightmare before Christmas by Tim Burton
this is awesome and you can see it in xmas and in halloween!!

2.-How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
i underestimate this one when came out, but really is good

3.- Home alone is super funny and take away sadness, i like both, but the second one is the most popular "Lost in NY"

Meet me in St. Louis with Judy Garland. *happy sigh*

Home for the Holidays with Holly Hunter and Robert Downey Jr. Dysfunctional family gathering for the holiday. It is awesome. And I second the rec for Love Actually. That movie is love.
