Oh, he is aware, mostly subconsciously, but still pretty much. Jim is dangerous to him at this point. In a way, it's not unlike having a broken arm that has healed incorrectly, and Jim is that one person who can break it before setting it right. The necessity of the act doesn't make it any more pleasant. And considering it's not exactly a case of a poorly treated physical injury, no wonder Spock is panicking. D:
I'm glad Spock still has Nyota and got to spend some time w/Jim... it feels like he's so tense that something has to give b/c he can't keep on the way he's been- thanks for the update!
