Can't wait to hear what Pike has to say! I love how you've captured Spock's emotional state, worn and needing a focus, but he's young yet and Kirk will surely be able to pull some emotion out of him. The descriptions of the lake house and the cousin were glorious. Thanks for writing!

Another great chapter! I loved the conversation between Kirk and Spock; very telling of both their characters. Kirk was almost rambling, but he was honest and observant as well. There's something about needing to know if Spock hated him that was rather poignant. I was also touched by Spock's very honest answer that he hated Nero, and would have stopped at nothing to destroy him if he'd still been alive. I'm grateful that Spock won't need to live that out; I could see him becoming a Space Age Ahab as a result. I liked the Alexander and Merlin observations, and assume the topic will come up again when the two discuss command styles ( ... )

*gulps* The idea of Spock as Ahab didn't occur to me, but once I read your comment I was like, Wow. Seriously. He could have come dangerously close to it, no kidding. That's some insight!

I think his decision to spend a month in this house was a kind of a non-decision. He didn't know what to do and couldn't make himself think about it. Hence: the time-out.

Spock definitely draws people to him, mostly without noticing. But we shouldn't stop believing someone'll put him right sooner or later. ;)

Thank you very much for the stellar feedback!

Sprite! Oh god, this is my new canon. lolz

Can't wait for Pike to lay into Spock and for Kirk to completely knock him off balance. =)

I hope christopher can help Spock find some direction/comfort... have to say I'm sad no Vulcans reached out to him even though they usually don't but still... glad his mom's family helped a little- look forward to more ^_^

I think that most Vulcans are pretty much in the same state at the moment. It's not exactly the best time for reaching out. On the other hand, what other time is there? *sighs*

Thanks. ;)

I'm glad Spock's emotions are convincing. Or non emotions. I think he'll discover at a certain point that what he categorizes as being 'a poor human' is in fact the most human thing of all. We'll get there.

Jim, LOL. Jim's about as confused as they get right about now. It'll get worse better. ;)
